Monday afternoon ramblings

I haven't really had much to blog about lately. I think i have been too busy. I had a great weekend. We didn't have any soccer, because of fall break. I went to family functions and of course church. Yesterday was a wonderful sermon. Our pastor is in Alaska right now, so we had a guest come speak. It was about seeing people as Jesus sees them. You know, I have to say, as I get closer to the Lord, I totally feel more in love with people in general. The whispers of my childhood ingrained prejudices grow dimmer, and Jesus is showing me who people really are. Who are we to judge? Are we not repulsive as well? Each in our own way? As my Bible Study teacher, Jean Stockdale said the other day, her son had fallen off the ladder from the roof, by missing one step of the ladder, not more than that. We are all sinners and we all fall short, but we cannot be saved from the fall and the impending death, without Jesus' blood. One sin plunges us into the depths of destruction leading to death, just as missing one step made Dawson fall twenty feet to the ground. It doesn't take a lot. Sometimes, I just want to go gather up all if the people in Memphis, and say, do you not know that our city does not need to be like this? Simply ask Jesus into your heart, and see how our city would change. Memphis is now the number 1 most dangerous city in America. Yes, it is. It is shocking that my hometown is that town. Everyone moves out of the city, to the outskirts, and leaves the gangs and drugs to their own demise. There are streets I will not drive down, for fear of random shootings. Yes, there are random shootings daily. So, I am not sure where this is going, but I am convinced that someone is reading this, because I see my profile views slowly go up, and I get a comment here and there. I would love comments. I used to blog on MySpace, and I have over a dozen subscribers, who left comments daily. I miss it, really, but to have a godly home, and family, my husband had asked me to not have a MySpace while he is away. I totally understand. Too many people were writing me, and going to my page. He is a more private person, and is a world away. He deserves some control and leadership in our family. He is the head of my family! So anyway, I just wanted to post some verses really quick. This first one is a follow-up to my only May blog.
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
The fear of the Lord is TOTALLY the beginning of wisdom. Once you understand who and what He really is, then you are able to live in His will. He is everything. You choose to either live by the Maker's rules, or try to swim upstream, against the Laws He placed over us, and end up miserable, and ultimately, separated from any good thing for eternity (aka Hell, Sheol, etc.)

Proverbs 2:7-9
7 He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
If we walk in His will, staying in His word daily, talking to Him, and also sharing Him with others, there are many great things He will show us. He goes ahead of us and prepares the way, and acts as a shield.
Song of Solomon 7:10
I belong to my lover,
and his desire is for me.
This is just a fun one that spoke to me yesterday! I love this book! I gave Tim a number of them to mull over. I will be reading a lot of Song of Solomon in the days to come, awaiting Tim's arrival!!
