Can you tell I'm bored? With no sports, dance classes, music lessons, Bible studies, and having sick children here and there, oh, and the rain, I am suffering from a bad case of cabin fever. My self-remedy is over-blogging. But that is OK, because my husband reads these ALL THE WAY on the other side of the world, which makes it all worth while. (I know you look forward to hearing about our daily lives, don't you, lover? (I love you!))
We had a 'Grinch Night' the other night, which included reading the book, putting on elf hats, and then watching the Dr. Seuss movie, eating popcorn and drinking something my mom found in a magazine, called 'Grinch Punch', which was a lemon/limeade drink with green food coloring in it.
Tonight, before our tour of lights in the car, we had what Katelyn referred to as a Cake party. We had made holiday cupcakes, and I put them in the shape of a tree, to look cute:
And this was a cute one-there were nutcrackers on the little porch:
but before the 'party' got started, Hope wanted one, and she wasn't happy when I said no!! (you can see her hand in the corner there)
Thanks to the local home school group that I am a member of, there have been lots of options for places to take the kids to see lights. There has been a thread on the forum that tells us the best places in and around town to go. Well, tonight, we drove a long way to see the best one I have ever seen in my life!! It was WAY out at a Christian Retreat, called the Rose Of Sharon Christian Retreat Center. The pictures don't do it justice, but I wanted to show a little of what they had, especially for my husband to see:
Here is a huge display that was on the way out to the retreat:
Here is our 'tour guide'. He showed up at every turn, telling us which way to go:
We thanked him kindly each and every time, too :) He sure was helpful.
This was the first thing you come to, a little chapel:
Then, there was a set-up, supporting our troops, so, naturally, the kids and I took the opportunity for a photo-op. It didn't turn out so great, though:
I always love the Candy Cane story:
And this was a cute one-there were nutcrackers on the little porch:
Here are some angels:
And it had the entire documented life of Jesus, here are a few scenes:(nativity)
(Jesus arriving in Jerusalem)
(going before Pilate)
(Crucifixion)
Here is the empty tomb, you can actually go in and see the empty tomb, there is an angel in there!
I found 'Mom' (she's standing in the door there)! She popped up 2 times throughout the land, greeting us with Apron on and all. She was a great hostess. It's hard to see in this photo, but- I LOVE how her son has festive 'Family Von Trap' pants on! Lady-yodelady-yodelayheehooThis was at the end:
And there was more, but I know you must be bored to tears!! If you are local, you should go see the lights! Friday and Saturday, they have concessions, a tram you can ride, and there is music going on the whole time!!
