Drilling for oil.

I have had differing opinions on the question of drilling for oil in our own country. As far as America tapping our own resources. I was for it, because I figured, it was dumb NOT to, because we are paying other people crazy prices for theirs. Then I was against it, because, well, I think we should speed up the search for alternative fuel sources, and drilling will make the search slower. Plus, I do believe we need to make better use of carpooling, and buy more eco-friendly vehicles, or...gulp....move to an area close to our job, and gulp again...walk or bike! Society will be going back to actual communities in my utopia. The kind where you do not have to drive 20 minutes to reach most of your destinations. You can walk to market, to school, and to the park.

My vision today came while I was in the bathroom, as most of them do :)
Many many Americans are pushing for us to drill and support our economy with our own fossil fuels. My question is, will the money hungry Middle East then come here and take back their business? Will that be the straw that broke the camel's back? WW3? I can see it. If we drill here, they lose big bucks, Bush and his family will not be in office anymore, so the dirty deals they do will not be as powerful, as far as Presidential authority goes. I support Obama. I know he is against the drilling, McCain is for it. And I know that if Obama wins, the system of checks and balances can still pass the bill to drill, unless he veto's, but it could be overturned, right? I am not current on my branches of office's ways anymore, so I am not sure. But, the people might really make the drilling a reality. Then what? So, we stop getting raped by the oil barons over in the middle east, and Bush? So, they get mad, because they are losing money? Does that then lead to the collapse of America that we all know is going to happen? Sooner than later?
Not that it is a really bad thing altogether. I figure the country will be a socialist country in the next few years. But who can blame it? Because of capitalism, we have the ability to make millions, billions of dollars, but as money comes in, people get greedy, and the wealth stays with the rich and well to do, and there are people working three jobs two streets over, with no insurance and 6 children, oh, and no daddy, either.
So, I do hope that Obama wins. Number 1 reason, to set a fine example to our back brothers and sisters alike, that there is no glass ceiling anymore. Black men can achieve their dreams here, in this country and the world. Every time I see him and his family on tv, I feel inspired, he seems to have the hidden hand on him. Like the anointed one. He inspires me. And Michelle inspires me. And every time I hear negative things about him, it makes me more inspired, because the negative said thing is normally ignorant or a bigoted remark. I feel McCain has way too many chips on his shoulder. He has been a great person, and has left a great mark in history and legacy for his family, but I do not believe he will do good for the country, and ultimately for the world stage. He is not BAD, I just do not believe he brings new ways of doing things to the table. It is time to move on.

I usually blog about family matters, and I have not been writing lately. I have so much here going on. I just felt the need to take a time out to get this down. Maybe someone wanted to read some boring blog today!

I'm still torn on how I'm going to vote in the next election.
Although, I agree that Obama teaches the Black community great things, let's not forget that he wasn't exactly raised in the ghetto. He didn't struggle or wonder how his family was going to eat dinner. He went to Ivy League schools his whole life.

Funny! I feel just like you politically - but reversed. Truthfully, I am disappointed with all candidates. I've not felt this way in a pre. election before. Politics, though important, is crappy!!! :)
